Dance & Choreography

My journey with movement began a decade ago with both Modern Dance and West African Dance and my connection with West African Dance has served as the cornerstone of my dance career. Over the past ten years, I’ve trained and performed both in dance companies and independently and have choreographed for touring musical artists hoping to offer their audiences an embodied way to interact with their message and their art. My goal is to continue to dance as a form of ancestral connection, cultural expression, embodied storytelling, and an invitation for others to express themselves freely and completely.

Past Work

Chelse-Amoy Steele brings a multi-disciplinary and healing perspective to her dance form. Rigorous and studied, while present and joyful, Steele’s style is one of a kind, joyful, expressive and all-encompassing.

She brings a light to every show, encouraging the band to move more as a team, while also encouraging audience members to step into their power and participate! Steele’s choreography choices are thoughtful and reflective, drawing from global influences with a modern approach. High energy, precision, happiness and effortlessness are some of the words that come to mind when I think of Chelse-Amoy Steele’s talent. The music and lyrics come to life when she is a part of the live show experience.
